The M.D. of Big Lakes is proceeding on $222,849 worth of work in four hamlets under the Hamlet Street Assistance Program.
Council green-lighted the work at its July 24 meeting.
Public Works Supt. Don O'Quinn presented a report to council outlining the work. Councillors had input into the decision during previous meetings so the motion to proceed was merely a formality.
In Enilda, $47,311 is budgeted to clean the ditch on the south side of the railway, fix an approach into Donald Bissell's yard that was not done years ago during pavement, filling in a ditch at the fire hall, and placing ashphalt/concrete pavement at the Women's Institute Hall, fire hall and post office.
In Joussard, $68,481 is budgeted to repair soft spots in chip sealed sections in the hamlet and complete work on selected back alleys.
In Grouard, $79,457 is budgeted to complete work on the lower road. Work will include ditching, reshaping and fixing soft spots. Dust control will also be completed from the old day care north and from Secondary Road 750 past the last house. If any money is left, dust control will be completed at the end of the pavement towards the waste transfer site.
In Faust, $27,600 is budgeted for dust control on Grouse Ave.
