McLennan New Year's Baby
A High Prairie couple were the proud parents of the New Year's baby born at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre in McLennan. Tara Shantz and Rod Badger gave birth to their first child, son Jace Kyler Shantz-Badger, on Jan. 9 at 6:53 p.m. weighing eight pounds and two ounces. Tara says the couple did not expect to have the New Year's baby because the boy was due on Dec. 28 and arrived two weeks late. Tara was in labour for 15 hours before delivering the couple's first child. The couple decided to give birth in McLennan because Sacred Heart has an anesthesiologist, which, she says isn't available in High Prairie. With very uncommon names, Jace was a name the couple saw in a newspaper, while Kyler is a combination of the baby's two uncles, Kyle and Tyler. Proud grandparents are Doug and Ruby Shantz, and Rodney Caudron and Peggy Cole, all of High Prairie.
