The 9th annual Peace Country Beef Congress is ‘mooving’ into High Prairie for the weekend of Jan 12-13. The weekend will be packed full of shows that will educate all who attend about the forever growing beef industry, says Peace Country Beef and Forage Association manager Jaime Borduzak. Whether you are into purebred bulls or heifers, commercial heifers, informative speakers, trade booths, or just interested in seeing how the 4-H members are doing with this year’s steers, the Congress is the perfect opportunity. Borduzak says there is a full agenda for both days with Friday ending with a banquet and live entertainment. She adds the feature event will be the newly added Carcass Class Herd Displays. “It wraps up the whole genetic process,” says Borduzak. “We have the bulls, the heifers and now we will have a display that represents the whole purpose of the industry and that is to produce the best meat possible.” On Friday’s agenda visitors can take in the trade show which opens at noon and runs until 6 p.m., a purebred heifer show, carcass class evaluation, and a banquet. On Saturday the fun continues. 4-H members from the area will be displaying their steers and being judged, a pen of purebred bulls will be on display, as well as the trade booths which open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. The Congress will be taking place at the Agriplex and everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a day of free family fun.
