PVR Realty changes hands

A career choice that was 11 years in the making is finally complete for Debbie Nelson, who on Nov. 1, assumed the ownership of Royal LePage PVR in High Prairie. Since 1995, Nelson has been working towards her goal of a new career and the freedom of choice. “I just wanted to start a new career in something I could be my own boss,” says Nelson. “With 28 years of experience working for a local law firm I was really interested in real estate law and wanted to do something along those lines. I really enjoyed the complexity and challenges it offers, and I am allowed to work freely with transactions and clients which I thrived on and can now pursue on a new level.” Once Nelson jumped full fledge into real estate, she says she knew this was where she belonged. “Since my time in real estate, it has always been my goal since I started to have my own brokerage,” says Nelson. Nelson’s success in achieving her goals can be attributed not only to her determination but also to a number of mentors in her career. “There were a lot of people who guided me through the learning process of real estate sales and I have them to thank,” adds Nelson. The love of her job comes simply from the expressions on new home owners’ faces once they find that perfect house, says Nelson. “There was this time when I was helping a young family find a home and when they found the perfect home the little girl was so happy just because she had a window seat in her room,” says Nelson. “It’s these little things make my job worth it.” Nelson says Royal LePage has a lot to offer their clients, especially since they belong to the Multiple Listing Standards (MLS), which means properties can be marketed worldwide and are available to all realtors. “The office has a very homey feeling, we are about more than just building realtor/client relationships,” says Nelson. “We want our clients to know that we will be around even after the sale is made.” As new owner, Nelson adds there are a number of changes she plans on making, one of them being a new accessible homepage and making the general public aware that they are always available to answer any real estate inquiries they may have. “I just want to create awareness about the office and everything we have to offer,” adds Nelson. “And add some minor improvements to an already successful business.”
