This one hurts!
The High Prairie Regals will need some help if they want to place first in the North Peace Hockey League’s East Division after dropping a 7-4 home ice decision to the Peace River Stampeders Jan. 11.
After a scoreless first period, the Stampeders took control by scoring five second period goals. After the first 10 minutes, which saw the Regals hit a couple goalposts, they seemed to sag as the Stamps took control of the game. For most of the last 50 minutes, the Stamps had by far the better of play. They outshot the Regals 26-17 over the last two periods.
Stamps’ captain Aaron Parenteau scored twice to lead the Stampeders while Denis Rochon, Jason Bouchard, Mark Sloan, Shawn Dickie and Tony Hughes added the others. Sloan also added three assists and was the game’s first star.
Lawrence Anderson, Lee Lamouche, Lance Gauchier and T.J. Cunningham replied for High Prairie.
The Regals play host to the Valleyview Jets tonight (Jan. 16) at the Sports Palace at 830 p.m. They travel to Manning to play the Comets Jan. 19 before returning home to face the Lakeland Eagles, Jan. 20.
