The was simply no stopping Erin Napio on Dec. 8.
Napio scored an incredible 17 goals in helping Sturgeon Lake defeat the High Prairie Cox Brothers Peewee Crush 19-11 in All Peace Minor Hockey League action.
And she added an assist for good measure.
Napio’s effort was far better than High Prairie’s Elisha Lamouche, who also enjoyed a fine game by scoring eight goals herself. She also added three assists for an 11-point day meaning she had a hand in each of High Prairie’s goals.
But this was Napio’s day. She scored six goals in the first period, five in the second and five in the third as Sturgeon Lake had period leads of 6-2 and 12-7.
Reba Napio and Leon McLean added Sturgeon Lake’s other goals.
Mikayla Laderoute scored twice for the Crush while Elisha Cunningham added the other goal to account for their scoring.
With the win, Sturgeon Lake pulled into a second place tie with the Crush in the Female Tier 3 Division. Sturgeon Lake (4-1-0) has one game in hand on High Prairie (4-2-0) and two games in hand on Beaverlodge (4-3-0). Grande Prairie (5-0-0) leads the hotly-contested division as the top four teams are separated by only two points.
And for the record, this game was not Napio’s best of the season. She scored 20 goals in a 30-4 win over Manning Dec. 23.
