High Prairie Regals’ coach Lee Hunt is confident heading into tonight’s Game 7 against the Lakeland Eagles (Tuesday, March 6 at 8:30 p.m.) while his counterpart, Eagles’ coach Jim McLean, is choosing to stay silent. “I’m looking forward to it,” says Hunt. “It’s been a tough, hard-fought series.” The inconsistency both teams have brought to the ice during the series is hard to figure, says Hunt. “If I could put my finger on it (I’d fix it),” says Hunt. “There’s been a lot of momentum swings.” Hunt says the team that wants it the worst will win it. “If we work hard and finish our checks we’ll be alright,” says Hunt. “We have to make good defensive plays. Whoever wants it more will win.” He says Game 6 could have gone either way but the Eagles won 5-3. That, after the Regals blitzed the Eagles 16-3 two nights earlier. Hunt is not surprised the Eagles have given his club all they can handle. “We expected to have a tough series,” says Hunt. In their history, the Regals have split 10 Game 7 matches but they are 4-1 at home. Hunt says the home fans will be a huge advantage in giving the team a much-needed boost. “I expect (the Sports Palace) to be full,” says Hunt. “The fans have been behind us all year. They should be a huge advantage.” Hunt is also relying on his veterans to come up big, as they must always in big games. Hunt says a Game 7 win could be a springboard to a win over Peace River in the East Division final. “I think if we win this it will give us a lot of confidence,” says Hunt. Peace River defeated the Grimshaw Huskies 4-2 in the other semi-final.
