The High Prairie and District Golf Course will be receiving help from the High Prairie Town Council. Recently, the golf course board of directors approached the town in hopes of help to improve their facility. Town Manager Larry Baran says council has approved funding in their 2007 interim budget for the golf course. “It is a municipal asset and council wants to help out by providing materials for specific projects for the golf course,” says Baran. The public works department has been authorized to acquire an additional $15,000 of asphalt each year for the next five years, to be used in support of the board’s needs to improve the paved cart paths. Councillor Wayne Forrester, previous president of the golf club, says the golf club had asked council for support on a variety of projects. He is pleased that council chose to assist the golf club. Council will also be providing volunteer assistance for path improvement. “The community will be able to “leverage” the donation to be worth much more in the long run,” says Forrester.
