Near the six-minute mark, Rondy Gauchier scored his second goal of the game with assistance from Lance Gauchier. Then the Regals moved within one goal when Justin Paul scored with assistance from T.J. Cunningham and Lawrence Anderson.
But the Athletics widened their margin again when Kelly McLeod scored a power play goal. They were now ahead by a score of 9-7.

Meanwhile, Rod Bowers and Shane Mudryk of the Athletics found their mark, but three other players didn’t.
Rondy Gauchier scored the game winner in the shootout.
Brian Martinson, the coach of the Regals, commented that his team made a few mental errors, and it cost them a couple of goals. He told them to keep it simple, and the let puck do the work for them.
“The big thing is to keep working hard,” says Martinson, adding that Shantz was the star performer with four goals.
The Regals will face the Manning Comets in their home opener Oct. 27 at 8:30 p.m.
