It was a celebration 1950s style at High Prairie ATB Financial Nov. 23 as the branch celebrated 50 years of operation.
Songs, movies and decorations from the 1950s highlighted the day along with cake and refreshments. Staff dressed in ‘50s attire which added a nice touch to the celebration.
A news release from the bank says ATB Financial Alberta’s own homegrown financial institution has been involved in the community since 1938. As the community grew to become a centre for area agriculture, forest and natural gas activity, ATB went from an agency in High Prairie to a full-service branch in 1957. It was the only agency to make the switch to a branch that year.
Since that time, the branch has continued to grow. It has gone from modest beginnings sharing space with the Roxy Theatre and serving an estimated 600 residents. Today, at its current location, the branch serves more than 2,500 town residents.
The branch has seen its share of setbacks as well. Fire completely destroyed the old Provincial Building in 1985. The associates persevered through the tragedy however, and managed to recover the original ‘Alberta Treasury Branch – Agency’ sign which is installed in the organization’s Provincial Archives.
It is that example of loyalty and perseverance that personifies ATB Financial and what they believe as an organization.
It is why more than half a million Albertans rely on ATB Financial for their financial needs.
Branch manager Blaine Collett says the bank believes in personal service where you customers can speak directly with our associates.
“Our service promise, ‘Where there’s a way’ is about taking the time to understand our customers and providing solutions. We know good service isn’t just about completing transactions, it’s about listening to what customers want and responding with smart advice, solutions and products,” he says.
The branch hosted a celebration Nov. 23 with a 1950s theme. The branch was decorated and staff dressed up to match the theme. As well, 1950s music and videos played throughout the day along with refreshments, cake and special draws. Collett and staff thank everyone for attending and their continued support.
ATB Financial is the largest Alberta-based financial institution in Canada with assets of $21.4 billion that provides personal and business financial services.
