The Sports Palace, Aquatic Centre and Agriplex were the centres of activity for High Prairie’s Family Day events on Feb. 18. Families enjoyed breakfast, face painting, craft making and free skating at the Sports Palace in the morning. S/Sgt. Steven Daley and Sgt. Brian Pattyson and other members of the RCMP cooked the sausages and pancakes. The breakfast was free, although food donations for the High Prairie and District Food Bank were accepted. The A&W Root Bear and Louie the Lightning Bug made an appearance. Marilyn Stewart and Sharon McRann clowned around, performing magic tricks and giving balloons to children. Families enjoyed a Toonie Swim at the Aquatic Centre in the afternoon, and story time and other activities were held at the public library. In addition, 20 seniors participated in a crib tournament at the Gold Age Centre, and there was Loonie bowling at the Enilda Bowling Alley. Over at the Agriplex, spectators were treated to barrel racing, pole bending, cattle sorting, team roping and bronco busting. This event was just for fun, and there were no prizes.
