HPE Idol

Grade 1 student Nicole Deynaka plays the accordion for her classmates. It is rare for a young student to play such a difficult instrument.

Grade 4 student Janea Jong played the ukelele and the classic song ‘He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands’ for the 500-plus attending.

Ashley Stuart sang “Baa Baa Black Sheep’ while playing a miniature guitar. Each student enjoyed the chance to perform.

Student-teacher Crystal Larose plays the flute while another student holds the music for her. Staff were invited to perform at this year’s HPE Idol – something only reserved for students last year.

Martial arts skills were showcased by Amber Cottingham, left, and Kennedi Strebchuk. They performed a variety of jumps and martial arts moves to Carl Douglas’ ‘Kung Fu Fighting’.

Zale Zabolotniuk was one of a few students who played the piano at HPE Idol. Above, he performs under the watchful eye of his mother, Lisa Zabolotniuk.
