Gordon Buchanan Rec. Center Grand Opening

Gordon Buchanan yelled “Go Regals! Go!” at the start of his speech, and he praised the community for making the Gordon Buchanan Recreation Centre a reality.

Terri Forseille sold memorabilia in the lobby of the new arena during the grand opening. The items for sale included pucks, inflatable hockey sticks and small banners. In addition, CDs containing a multimedia presentation about the past, present and future of recreation in High Prairie were for sale, and orders were being taken for a DVD version.

Children of the High Prairie Repertoire Dance Society (above) performed a variety of dances in the Performing Arts Centre in the afternoon. Children in the High Prairie Ukrainian Dance Club also showed off their talents.

From left are Lindsay Pratt, Cliff Calvert, Laurie Keay and Garand Jones. Cliff Calvert made these gifts for them in appreciation for giving him the opportunity to help with the construction of the Gordon Buchanan Recreation Centre.

Tristen Walker completed the speed skating event with a time of 25.27 seconds. Speed skating was one of three events held during the hockey skills competition.

Dakota Isadore demonstrates his skill with hoops in the Hoop Dance. He worked flawlessly with many hoops in different configurations.
