On April 18, students from Grades 3-12 traveled to Grimshaw to compete in the Second Annual Peace 10 and Holy Family School Division Handgames Tournament. Approximately 200 participants from all corners of the Peace Region attended. All students were eligible to attend and the most skilled participants were chosen during their Cultural Handgames Unit in Physical Education in each school. Cultural Handgames are most popular in the north and are played at the Arctic Winter Games. Students from St. Andrew’s formed three teams; the first elementary team, the “Caribou” played well, the second elementary team, the “Moose” placed first overall and the junior high team, the “Anaconda’s” placed third in the Junior/Senior Division. The medals were all handcrafted by Dave Matilipi of Peace River. All the participants look forward to the Handgames Tournment again next year! Have a great week and God Bless!
