It’s a moment High Prairie has waited for many years, but construction of the new hospital begins soon. To mark the occasion, health care officials and other dignitaries attended a sod turning ceremony at the construction site May 30. Above, Tim Guest, vice-president of rural health services for Peace Country Health, and Lesser Slave Lake MLA Pearl Calahasen help Oswald Peattie turn the sod. The spry 106-year-old Peattie was the guest of honour. He wanted to keep digging with his newly-found toy after he started digging.

The sod turning for the new High Prairie hospital has passed into history, and construction is to begin on the $55 million facility this summer.

$3,670 raised locally for Walk-For-Children
Heather Daly and Linda Vanden Berg raise money for as many charitable causes as possible, including the province-wide Elks and Royal Purple Children’s Walk-For-Children.
