High Prairie Dolphins’ swimmers recorded a whopping 42 personal best times this season at their meet co-hosted with the Smoky River Manatees July 5. Swimmers obviously enjoyed some home cooking at the meet, held at the High Prairie Regional Aquatics Centre. While the results did not bear fruit in terms of winning races, it did show the club’s swimmers are vastly improving as the season progresses. Nicole Peyre enjoyed a fine day by recording personal best times in all four of her meet races. She placed first in the girl’s 13-14 100-metre freestyle and 50-metre butterfly and second in the 50-metre freestyle. Kirstin Walker was the only other Dolphin to win a race after swimming the girl’s 12 and under 200-metre freestyle in 3:22.50 seconds. She also placed third in the girl’s 11-12 100-metre freestyle. Leann Peyre had one second place finish, that being in the girl’s 11-12 100-metre freestyle. She also placed fourth, fifth and seventh in other races. Morgan Caudron’s effort in the girl’s 13-14 100-metre freestyle was good enough for third as she raced to the finish line in 1:24.18 seconds while her sister, Mallory, had two third place ribbons in the girl’s 15-16 100-metre backstroke and 100-metre breaststroke. Kesha Smith placed second in the girl’s 15-16 100-metre breaststroke to complete the girl’s portion of placings. The boys did not win any races but had plenty of second and third place results. Abdullah Sharkawi swam three personal best times and it showed in his results. He placed second in the boy’s eight and under 25-metre freestyle and third in the 25-metre backstroke and 50-metre freestyle. Cole Isaac swam in his first meet and placed second in the boy’s six and under 25-metre backstroke and third in the 25-metre flutterboard. Caul Strebchuk repeated Sharkawi’s effort by recording three personal best times. He won second in the boy’s 11-12 50-metre backstroke and third in the 100-metre freestyle and 50-metre freestyle. J.J. Jorquera also placed second in the boy’s 13-14 100-metre breaststroke. It was his first meet of the season. The Dolphins enjoyed tremendous success by wining four relay races and placing second in two others. Morgan Caudron, Mallory Caudron, Kesha Smith and Nicole Peyre won the girl’s 15-16 200-metre medley in 2:46.19 seconds. They also won the 200-metre freestyle relay in 2:28.11 seconds. Not to be outdone, Landon Stout, Bradley Nygaard, Nikolas Noskey and Abdullah Sharkawi won the boy’s eight and under 100-metre medley in 2:28.45 seconds and the 100-metre freestyle relay in 1:59.42 seconds. Serafina Jorquera, Kirstin Walker, Shelley Henkel and Leann Peyre placed second in the girl’s 11-12 200-metre freestyle relay in 3:13.35 seconds. The boy’s 17 and over 200-metre freestyle team of Keegan Jorquera, Daetan Noskey, Caul Strebchuk and J.J. Jorquera placed second in the boy’s 17 and over 200-metre freestyle.
