Garry Ireland has been very busy the last three months with vehicle repairs, often working 12-14 hours a day.
“It’s been crazy. I give ’er pretty hard,” says Ireland.
He is the owner of Batwings Auto Repair, located between the UFA gas bar and ATCO Electric. He has two employees, including one working on his apprenticeship. Judy Johan- sson, his girlfriend, handles the administrative tasks.
Ireland does regular automotive repair work – including transmission, suspension, exhaust and driveline – on all makes and models. He does not handle heavy-duty mechanic work or auto body repair. However, he is in the process of becoming licensed to handle out-of-province vehicle inspections and commercial vehicles.
The profession is in Ireland’s blood, as his dad and grandparents worked at GM.
Ireland began his career in the automotive field in 1990 working for Kal Tire as a journeyman. In later years, he contracted with Trigil Energy Inc. as a battery operator and ran the Little Horse battery near Gift Lake.
Batwings Auto Repair is open Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. To book an appointment, call (780) 523-5563 or fax (780) 523-4750.
