Remembrance Day Service

Royal Canadian Legion president Don Ebbett paid tribute to four fallen comrades during the past year: Ken Freeman, Grant Mercer, Fred Napier and Jim Thomas.

High Prairie RCMP S/Sgt. Stephen Daley read a message from Prime Minister Stephen Harper during the ceremony. He joined Harper and all Canadians in paying tribute to Canada’s military forces.

Lt. Verna Ogg, far right, instructs the High Prairie 539 Air Cadet Squadron stand at attention before the march around the block. The cadets are sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion. Numbers are much higher this year after a summer recruitment drive.

Lorne Napier was one of several veterans to attend the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Royal Canadian Legion.

Sergeant-at-arms Tony Belli, centre, led members of the Royal Canadian Legion in the march around the block. The march also featured members of the High Prairie Fire Department, RCMP, High Prairie 539 Air Cadet Squadron, the Girl Guides and others.
