Seven people are facing drug-related charges after a drug bust Nov. 15 on Swan River Fist Nation.
In the early morning hours of Nov. 15, Faust and Lakeshore RCMP, with the support of the High Prairie RCMP GIS unit, executed a search warrant for illicit drugs at a residence in Swan River.
“Upon executing the search warrant, police were surprised to find that 20 persons were in and around the residence at the time of the execution,” says Cp. Kevin Kunetzki. “There were a total of 12 adults and eight young persons present in and around the home at the time.”
Seven people were charged with various offences under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act as a result of drugs and alcohol being present and consumed. They are:
- Dylan Boucher, 18, of Swan River, faces a charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance;
- Brandon Twin, 19, of Swan River, charged with breach of probation;
- Robert Boucher, 24, of Swan River, charged with breach of recognizance;
- Jarrett Findlay, 18, of Slave Lake, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and breach of an undertaking;
- Ardell Sloat, 20, of Swan River, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and breach of recognizance;
- Damon Sinclair, 19, of Wabasca, charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance;
- and one youth, charged with breach of an undertaking. His name cannot be disclosed because of provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Because they are not from Swan River, Sinclair and Findlay were released but not permitted to be within the geographical limits of either Swan River First Nations or Kinuso.
Police continue to work with the Swan River First Nation Community to address the issue.
