Light-Up Celebration

After the lights were turned on, children flocked to many displays. Eight-year-old Trinity Laboucan, left, of Grande Prairie, was visiting her cousin, Jayden Gauchier, 11, of High Prairie and posed beside a snowman at Santa’s Workshop.

The nativity display made primarily by Gwen McLachlan was a big attraction with children. In front is Ashley Billings. In back, left-right, are Hayley Cox, Riley Cox, Darbie Billings and Alexa Prpich. The scene beside Mary and Baby Jesus was a prime favourite for many.

POPS Home Hardware entered the Santa Claus Parade and erected a cheerful Santa who danced on the back of their float.

If Santa’s very large stocking is full of presents for these three High Prairie children they will have a nice Christmas! Left-right are Katija Sware, Grayce Keay and Jake Poloz.

Santa Claus was joined by his better half on his trusty Ford Ranger at the Santa Claus Parade. Later, they served treats to all the good little boys and girls in the area.

A lot of money is spent on displays each year to add to High Prairie’s Light-Up display. Above, Taneille Crooks, 8, of High Prairie, gazes intently at Santa Claus in a bubble.

Christmas isn’t just for the little children but adults, too! Driftpile’s Lorie Bellerose enjoyed snuggling up to a cheerful soldier. Both are saluting the beginning of the holiday season!
