The third annual Girl Guides Christmas craft sale had it all for shoppers. Held at the Elks Hall Dec. 12-13, there were 24 tables with jewelry, beauty products, books and ornaments. Rosemary Halldorson, event organizer as well as Brownie and Guide leader, is happy with the turnout. “I’m disappointed we couldn’t have any baked goods, but it’s due to health regulations,” she says. Mary and Andrew Irwin, from Falher, were promoting their Create-A-Book Personalized Books business. Using a computer, they can customize a book as a gift with the person’s name, age, name of the giver and a dedication. Their son received a similar book years ago and they decided to make a business out of it. “We were intrigued that it’s a unique keepsake, educational and makes reading fun,” says Mary Irwin. Bertha Rosychuk, of Enilda, had moccasins, mitts, slippers and wraparounds for sale. She has been making these for 15 years. “Beadwork can take two to three days for a pair of moccasins,” Rosychuk says. Rosychuk taught herself a lot about making crafts, although her sister, Ann Oliver, also taught her. Beth Cunningham had plenty of Christmas items including table runners, wall hangings, placemats, quilting work etc. She is also self-taught and has been making crafts for many years. “I just have a love for sewing and needle work.” She adds she prefers to keep busy instead of sitting in front of the TV. Kathy Galenzoski had jewelry, including necklaces, rings and bracelets, as well as beauty products. This event raised approximately $600 for the Guides, which will go towards their activities and fees.
