"Heaven doesn’t want us" Eighteen teams, including six from out of town, participated in the annual High Prairie Ladies Bonspiel at the High Prairie Curling Club Jan. 23-25. Maureen Butterfield’s rink won the golden broom for their skit, ‘The Devil went down to the Curling Rink’, at the banquet Jan. 24. It was a parody of Charlie Daniels’s song, ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia’. Left-right are Maureen Butterfield, Marian Porisky, Cyndy Assoon and Candis Emter. Jocelyn Heyde’s rink won the A Event, Nadean Crooks the B Event and Butterfield the C Event.

Fire department needs more volunteers
Those who volunteer with the High Prairie Fire Department come from all walks of life, from teachers to tradespeople to business professionals, but the department needs more volunteers.

High Prairie town council has passed two bylaws, one for a local improvement tax and the other authorizing the Town to enter into a $520,000 debenture, for Cornerstone Residential Development.
