Medals galore!
|
The High Prairie Tiger Taekwondo Club went to the Alberta Taekwondo Association Provincials in Calgary on March 28. They returned home from a successful meet with several medals. In the back row, left-right, are Dillon Campiou and Danielle Delorme. In the front row, left-right, are Daniel Kosak, Blake Daly, Jacob Kosak, Wyatt Daly and Jace Gauchier. Dillon Campiou won a bronze medal in poomse. Danielle Delorme won silver in poomse and silver in sparring. Daniel Kosak won a bronze in poomse and bronze in sparring. Blake Daly won silver in poomse and bronze in sparring. Jacob Kosak won silver in poomse and silver in sparring. Wyatt Daly won silver in sparring and Jace Gauchier won bronze in sparring.

The High Prairie Buchanan Lumber Blackhawks won the All Peace Minor Hockey League Bantam B Tier 4 title in late March. In the front row, left-right, are Nathan Thom, Troy Willier, Taylor Orr, Justin Matthews, T.J. Walker, Keltyn Tisserand and Derek Hutt. In the back row, left-right are assistant coach Larry Gauchier, assistant coach Louie Morris, Garet Gauchier, Brad Cunningham, Terrance Simmonds, Tyson Anderson, Tristen Auger, Kehew Bellerose, Brandon Brassard, Jeremy Okemow, Jordan Gauchier, Cody Bellerose, assistant coach Vernon Walker and head coach Harold Bellerose.

In terms of medals and accomplishments, it has been many years since the High Prairie Skating Club enjoyed the success it has this season. Under the direction of head coach Becky Zajic and several assistant coaches, the club completed a successful 2008-09 season with competitions at Dawson Creek, B.C. and Grande Prairie recently.

High Prairie Team Blue, comprised of Samantha Laboucan, Kate Ochran, Rhiane Jamieson and Shelby Thunder, placed first in Preliminary Team Group A in Grande Prairie. Left-right are Kate Ochran, Samantha Laboucan, Erin Sebo, Shelby Thunder and Rhiane Jamieson. Sebo competed in Silver Interpretive.

High Prairie Team Yellow, left-right, was comprised of Kennedi Strebchuk, Amber Cottingham, Brooke Monteith and Rae-Ann Gill. They placed first in Introductory Team Group C at Grande Prairie.
