Rat-a-tat-tat-tat

Brayden Brown, 11, looks through the iron sight of a Browning Model 1919A4 semi-automatic machine gun at the High Prairie Gun and Sportsman Show April 18. The gun’s owner, who did not wish to be identified, says it is a non-restricted firearm in Canada and he can get the ammunition for it inexpensively. Gun & Sportsman show biggest ever
The eighth annual High Prairie Gun & Sportsman Show, held April 18-19, was the High Prairie Gun Club’s biggest ever, drawing dealers from Alberta and British Columbia and 2,200 visitors.

Firefighter honoured by peers
Mike Caron is 2009’s Firefighter of the Year Award winner, receiving it during the annual Emergency Services Ball at the Elks Pro Rodeo grounds April 4.

Hillview School’s first spring concert
April 7 was a special day for Hillview Elementary School in East Prairie Métis Settlement, as the students sang and danced for parents in their first spring concert.

Beautification Society to dissolve
The High Prairie Beautification Society will be dissolving in May, which concerns High Prairie town councillor Jeff Burgar.

M.D. ‘embarrassed’
An “embarrassed” M.D. of Big Lakes council is trying to come up with ideas to ensure better protocol is followed at events like the Pearl Calahasen anniversary and High Prairie Emergency Services Ball.
