The High Prairie Elks and Royal Purple are continuing efforts to raise money for charity.
The local groups are co-hosting the North Zone Walk-a-Thon May 2 to raise money for the Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children.
Registration is at 11 a.m. with a noon lunch to follow. The walk-a-thon begins at 1 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m. when a steak barbecue supper will be held for $10. Refreshments will be for sale on site.
All events occur at the patio at the High Prairie Elks Stampede Grounds.
Highlighting the fun-filled evening will be a jam session so be sure to bring your guitar, banjo, fiddle or any other musical instrument and play along.
Citizens in the community are encouraged to support the event by pledging money to anyone taking part in the walk-a-thon.
The Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children provides assistance to children in need. The fund promotes early deaf detection and treatment and promotes addiction awareness. The fund is also a major supporter of the Institute for Stuttering treatment and research.
