Ghana - Trip also a chance to visit old friends
Sydni McCue is a young resident from High Prairie who has made a difference in Africa through self initiative and fundraising. She visited Ghana for the first time in October of 2007 for two and a half months on a volunteering trip. Upon returning, she worked various jobs to save up for her next trip to Ghana to spread funds raised from an event in the summer of 2008. She took her second trip to Ghana on January 26, 2009 and just recently returned on March 2, 2009. This is the fifth article Sydni has sent us describing her trip, and the different activities she did while visiting Africa.


Celebrate Earth Day April 22
Today, Wednesday, April 22nd, is Earth Day. This observance was founded in 1970 by the United States Senator Gaylord Nelson. At a conference in Seattle, Washington in 1969, the Senator from Wisconsin proposed that there should be a nationwide event to celebrate environmental issues.


Owl to live rest of life in captivity
Tanaya, a short-eared owl found injured in Peavine Métis Settlement last fall, will live out her natural life in captivity at the Alberta Birds of Prey Foundation in Coaldale, near Lethbridge.
