South Peace News

High Prairie Elementary School was buzzing April 2-3 as the Grande 6 students staged two fabulous shows of The Aristocats Kids. The students brought tremendous energy to the show which the audience picked up on. In turn, each fed off each other to make an truly enjoyable evening. The play was based on the 1970 Disney film The Aristocats. In the pay, Madame’s jealous butler, Edgar, cat-naps Duchess and her Aristokittens and abandons them in the Parisian countryside. What’s a cat to do? Luckily, Thomas O’Malley and his rag-tag bunch of alley cats come to their rescue. Grade 6 teacher and director Joanne Murphy also acted as choreographer. It was her third year directing such a play. Many others too numerous to mention also helped produce the play.

Arrah Grey, left, and Makayla Laboucan played the roles of Abigail Gabble and Amelia Gabble respectively. Both were alley cats in the play, although one could not tell by their fancy dresses.

Adrien Dominguez played the role of Edgar and brought unbridled passion to the play with his facial expressions. Just the thought of cats … well, you can tell by the expression on his face!

Creo Willier played the part of Scat Cat. He was, indeed, one cool cat with the sunglasses. Like most of the students, he brought tremendous energy to the stage.
