Beginning of something big!

Grade 1 students at High Prairie Elementary School all traveled to Keith Kryzanowksi’s farm in Gilwood May 22 to plant spruce trees. Each year, Alberta Sustainable Resource Development gives a tree to each Grade 1 student in Alberta to plant as part of Arbour Day celebrations during Alberta Forest Week May 3-9. It also provides students with an opportunity to learn about trees and the natural world, while taking action to make the world a better place. HPE sets aside an afternoon each year, albeit this year a little late, and chooses a site to plant all its trees. Above, Heather Kay, left, and Arianna Cutrell, students in Greta Corbett’s Grade 1 class, plant a tree with all the loving care a mother would give.
