Singing and skit highlights talent show

Mac Olsen

Pop music, heavy metal and a parody about teachers were the highlights of St. Andrew’s School’s semi-annual talent May 21.

Opening the show was the heavy metal band, In Chaos, performing their own song, ‘Highlander’. Josh James was the “screamer” of the band on the vocals.

Ella Cunningham was next with ‘Never Alone’ by Barlow Girl. She was a little nervous at the outset, but quickly found her mark and received thunderous applause at the end of her performance.

Olivia Davies was to perform ‘Bleeding Love’ by Leona Lewis, but she lost her nerve and left the stage.

Shyanne L’Hirondelle performed Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’, from the movie ‘Titanic’.

There were three piano performances, with Leslie Dueck singing ‘A Thousand Miles’, Hope Sauvageau singing ‘Too Late to Apologize’ and Mallory Caudron performed her own untitled song.

Near the end of the show, a group of students performed a skit, parodying some of their teachers.

The heavy metal band Still Unknown rounded out the show with two songs, their own song ‘Game On’ and ‘The End of Heartache’ by Killswitch Engage.

The three winners of the show were:

1. Mallory Caudron with 46 points.

2. Still Unknown with 43½ points.

3. In Chaos with 40 points.

Judging were Dan Gillmor, Terry Hogan, Julie Morita, as well as Cecile and Josh Pitcher. They rated each performance on a scale of one to 10, with a maximum of 50 points and provided feedback to each performer.
