Record turnout for Spring Open
A new record was set May 24 at the High Prairie Spring Open. We had 80 participants this year! With the course being in excellent shape and the weather cooperating, it was a great day for golf.
Kenatan Catering put on an awesome meal and Dave Temple and Rick Guttinger did an outstanding job organizing the tournament.

Miserable Tuesdays continue
Can someone please tell me why the weather has been so miserable on Tuesdays? Ladies Night has been frozen out, snowed out and rained out! Enough already!
You know we really want to get started when ladies showed up to golf May 26 in the rain.
On Wednesday, May 20, Men’s Night, the course didn’t open until 4 p.m. due to the snow from the day before yet there were approximately 25 men who attended.
Odds and ends
Visit the Pro Shop and check out the new line of Loft 8 clothing that has just arrived. Also, check out the sale on selected items. Looking for golf clubs for children? The Pro Shop has junior sets available for purchase.
When you visit the Pro Shop make time to have a meal or beverage at the Spike Lounge. Donny Carlson and Carol Winterburn have made a few changes to the place and it is looking great.
If you enjoy a steak sandwich you must try Donny’s. They also have daily soup specials during the week and make a scrumptious Reuben. Enjoy your meal sitting on the balcony looking out at the fountain and the beauty of the course.
The sod has been laid on the new tee boxes and they look great. We should have more cart paths paved within the next couple of weeks.

Did you know, High Prairie Golf Club members are entitled to call up to three days in advance to book tee times? Non-members may call a day in advance.
Continuing tips for speeding up play
Play level appropriate Tees! Blue tees are for the low handicapper, white tees for the average, red tees for juniors, ladies, and seniors.
If you are a 20 handicap playing off the back tees you are really only doing yourself a disservice. It’s not to say everyone who does it slows down play. If you’re a high handicapper who plays quickly, by all means, torture yourself from the back tees.
Joke-of-the-Week
“Why are you so late in arriving for your tee time?” one golfer asked his friend.
“It’s Sunday,” replied his friend. “I had to toss a coin between going to church or playing golf.”
“Yes,” continued the friend, “but that stills doesn’t tell me why you are so late.”
“Well,” said the fellow, “It took over 25 tosses to get it right!”
