Members of Big Lakes Family and Community Services went all out for Seniors Week, holding their annual lunch for 160 seniors at the Enilda community hall June 3.
“It’s a lot of work, but they enjoy it,” says FCS director Sharon Strang. “It’s always successful and we always get a good turnout.”
The buffet lunch was comprised of ham, turkey and roast beef, as well as salads, dinner rolls and dessert.
The seniors also put their names in for a draw for prizes.
FCS staff spent 10 hours the previous day preparing the food and decorating the hall for the event, says Strang. She commends Lesser Slave Lake MLA Pearl Calahasen for contributing flowers and prizes to the event.
Allan and Enid Helander enjoyed the lunch and praised FCS staff for holding it. More below.

“It’s a very appropriate gesture to have Seniors Week.”
Enid Helander says she and her husband have lived in 13 communities and have found High Prairie to offer the most to seniors.
“There’s a lot of community spirit and there’s help for seniors in many areas,” she says.
