Hopes the High Prairie Hospital would be welcoming two new doctors to its staff

Royal Purple calls for help
Each year, the Royal Purple operate the food booth at the High Prairie Elks Pro
Rodeo. This year is no exception so the call for volunteers is being extended
early. The rodeo is scheduled for July 28-29 so now is the time to plan to help,
if available.
The joys of cooking!
Marigold Enterprises held a barbecue and car wash June 12. Lee Laboucan and Bob
Dlugosz volunteered to cook the hotdogs and hamburgers.
Town of High Prairie owns Whitefish Inn
With no other bids forthcoming, the Town of High Prairie purchased the Whitefish
Inn to resell the property and collect all outstanding property taxes.

JCA voted at its June 9 meeting to write the M.D. of Big Lakes asking them to
reconsider their decision to not give them a $1,000 grant to help pay for their
Canada Day celebration.

Provincial: Too long in coming
Sherwood Park is one more community on a long list of communities around Alberta
waiting for a new hospital. Capital Health region broke ground at Sherwood Park in
October 2007. Like High Prairie, which also held a ceremony, there’s nothing in
Sherwood but a pile of dirt and a hole in the ground.

road, work on bridges and regrade Range Road 172 under the Alberta government’s
resource road program.

Pratt announces May’s Shining Stars
Each month during the school year, E.W. Pratt High School will be
selecting three outstanding students who best exhibit the qualities
in a chosen characteristic. May was ‘optimism’ month at Pratt; staff
watched to see which students exhibited optimism not only to themselves
but to staff and students. This month’s theme is ‘self-motivation’.

Ayles Grade 11 Jenny Ayles really likes the variety of options courses
here at E.W. Pratt because she thinks classes like I.A. and Cosmetology are
great alternative choices. Taneshia Hammoud
Grade 11 Taneshia Hammoud loves to be creative and is very artistic.
She likes to paint and draw, but she also enjoys reading and playing tennis.

attending our school because “people push to make it better” by using surveys and
always trying to improve.
