Mary, a portent from heaven

Mother Mary’s daily appearances in the heavens to six youths at Medjugorje, Croatia, for 28 years is a portent from heaven.
“And I will show portents in heavens and signs on earth below,” says the Lord. (Joel 2:30)
‘Portent’ is defined in Webster’s dictionary as “a prophetic or a threatening significance.”
Funk and Wagnall dictionaries defines it as, “a vision of dire importance or great change. Something momentous or calamitous change.”
What does this mean to us, a portent? We are told this is a sign, for all to repent or change and prepare for some momentous occasion.
“What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the rooftops,” says our Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew 10:27)
We are to tell everyone that something momentous is about to happen, because Mother Mary is appearing in the heavens, with a simple little message” “Pray, fast and repent (change.)”
This is the personal part of the message for each and every one of us.
What is the greater overall message?
Here are some significant changes which have occurred since the beginning of our Lady’s appearances: The fall of the U.S.S.R. (Communist empire); the Rise of China to prominence; the attacks against the Western world, especially the U.S., the event of 9-11 as it is known and two different wars with Iraq; the slaughter or genocide of thousands of people in Croatia, Rwanda and Sri Lanka and around the globe.
Some natural disasters: a tsunami which struck 11 or 12 countries killing over 220,000 people; the destruction of New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina; others that have struck central America and other Asian countries.
There were more earthquakes in the 1990s than there had been in the previous nine decades. Earlier this year, there were three off the coast of Vancouver Island alone.
The yearly ever growing fires in California, Greece, Australia and other locations in the world, an ever growing number of storms attributed to climate changes.
Plagues or pestilence striking our trees and forest, cattle, deer and elk population, and the ever growing threat of pandemics, SARS, Avian, Swine flu or epidemics of many different names.
The return of many old diseases thought to be under control: mumps, rubella, polio, malaria, tuberculosis, leprosy and finally H.I.V. and its final stages – AIDS – a battle the African world appears to be losing and its increasing foothold in the balance of the world.
What do all these wonders and disasters indicate or point to? Is it the financial collapse of our free market enterprise system?
Maybe.
Is it possible our consumer base is not growing fast enough to support the amount of goods we are producing?
Why?
Is it due to the amount of abortions in the world?
At the time of Moses’ birth, the Egyptian world tried to destroy all Hebrew boys at birth - thousands of them - to prevent a future Hebrew uprising. (Exodus 1-2)
At our Lord Jesus Christ’s birth, all male babies under two years around Bethlehem were slaughtered to prevent the rising of a new king. (Matthew 2:7-18)
In the past 40 years, babies have been aborted by the millions and millions not only in North America but also in the entire world. China’s population control and the destruction of girl fetuses to ensure only one male offspring per family as well as the low value placed on girls in India has caused a shortage of girls due to abortion.
In Europe and the Americas performing abortions for the sake of convenience has created manpower shortages; over 100,000 abortions per year in Canada and over a million per year in America.
These above mentioned areas total about three billion people or half of the world’s population. Think of the total number of children who never saw the light of day. The numbers are staggering. These would all be consumers today creating a larger demand for goods. Is this one of the reasons for the world’s financial collapse?
What is on the horizon?
Mary is not only appearing in Medjugorje, though this is the longest period of time she has appeared anywhere. She has also appeared in Canada at Marmora, Ont., “Immaculate Paths” not authenticated by the church but apparently monthly visits.
She has also appeared to Muslims and Catholics at the same time in Damascus, “The Miracle of Damascus” promoting unity.
In Rwanda, Mary started appearing in November 1983 warning of coming disaster. It was not heeded, ergo the massacre of one million people by their own countrymen.
It has also been reported, Mary has said she “will appear in every household if necessary” and that this is the last time (in Medjugorje) that she will appear on Earth.
Does this mean she is establishing the “Kingdom of Heaven” or “Kingdom of God” on Earth in preparation for the second coming?
Thirty million pilgrims who have visited and experienced Medjugorje might think so. Likewise, many other pilgrims at other locations might concur.
“A light shines in the darkness, and the darkness understands it not.” (John 1:5)
Food for thought? God Bless!
