The Phantom of the Opera?

Actually, no. The High Prairie public library held Favourite Character Day for children Aug. 13. It included storybook reading and making masks. In front, from left, are Aneta Staniszewski dressed as Little Red Riding Hood and the summer reading program coordinator, Erik Stajic, Leighton Halldorson and Lance Halldorson and his daughter, Georgia. Faust resident opposes subdivisions
Property subdivisions in the east end of Faust should cease because it will destroy the country residential lifestyle for those already there and because a proposed sewer line will be too expensive for landowners to afford.

Police seize cocaine in High Prairie
The RCMP has charged Jonathan David Halen, 23, of Edmonton with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of the proceeds of a crime, possession of stolen property, obstructing a police officer and speeding.

Charges laid in High Prairie shooting range incident
Several people have been arrested and charges laid following an incident at the High Prairie Fish and Game Association’s shooting range north of town.

M.D. pays for half of steam engine repair
The Municipal District of Big Lakes is paying for half of the repairs to the 1912 Case Steam Engine at the museum in Triangle.

Grant application denied for 52 Avenue
The federal government has turned down the Town of High Prairie’s request for funding to reconstruct 52 Ave.

Dolphins do well in regional event
The High Prairie Dolphins Swim Club did well at the regional swim meet in Peace River Aug. 7-9, bringing home provincial qualifying medals in several individual and four relay events.
