The third annual Art Walk was a success, according to organizers.
“It was awesome,” noted Big Lake Country Tourism’s Kathy Wright, who organized the event with her husband George.
Those attending the walk saw paintings, photographs, writing, drawing and handicrafts from area artists at the event, held August 7 and 8 at the Visitor Information Centre.
This year’s event was bigger than last year’s, with 598 visitors coming through to see the various creations, as opposed to 190 last year, and with a greater number of artists.
“The great turnout blew me away – I wasn’t expecting those numbers,” said Wright.
She said advertising, and word of mouth from previous years, made the difference in attendance figures.
‘A lot of people phoned us this year to find out when it was.”.
Wright said the hope is that the show will be even bigger next year, with dance and music potentially included.
“We have an amazing amount of talent. There’s (even) artists out there that we don’t know about,” she noted.
