The M.D. of Big Lakes will be holding a meeting to meet with residents of Kinuso “as soon as possible”.
Council made a decision to hold the meeting at its Sept. 1 meeting, called especially to deal with Kinuso dissolution.
M.D. CAO Jeff Renaud suggested an evening meeting to provide an opportunity for Kinuso residents to meet M.D. administrative staff. In turn, staff could also meet residents.
“It’s a good idea,” said Reeve Alvin Billings.
Council agreed it was just “good business” to hold the meeting, seeing there were rumours circulating regarding how life will change for Kinuso residents as members of a hamlet.
The meeting will be advertised as soon as a date in known.
Kinuso residents voted over 80 per cent in favour of dissolution after going to the polls May 26 and voting 61-13. The ministerial order from Alberta Municipal Affairs Minister Ray Danyluk came July 22.
The M.D.’s Kinuso councillor, Ken Killeen, will represent the hamlet.
