Religous: The master of quality control

Pastor Arnie Wyllie
for South Peace News

In engineering and manufacturing, quality control and quality engineering are used in developing systems to ensure products or services are designed and produced to meet or exceed customer requirements. Quality control is the branch of engineering and manufacturing which deals with assurance and failure testing in design and production of products or services, to meet or exceed customer requirements. A valuable process to perform on a whole consumer product is stress testing the operation of a product until it fails, often under stresses such as increasing vibration, temperature and humidity. This exposes many unanticipated weaknesses in a product, and the data is used to drive engineering and manufacturing process improvements. God is in the business of “quality control”. When God completed the “creation process”, He called it “very good”. The Bible says, “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good (excellent in every way)”. (Genesis 1:31) It was not long before a certain component of God’s Creation turned aside from God’s plan for His Creation. The human component (Adam and Eve) decided to listen to the wrong advice and committed the first and greatest sin. The devil gave Adam and Eve some phony advice, they believed it, and sinned. This first sin resulted in contamination of the quality of God’s Creation. From then on, mankind has had to work the ground to make it provide for him. Before they sinned, Adam and Eve walked and talked with God in His perfect garden which He made to take care of their every need. But God was ready for this turn of events. With “quality control” in His mind, God revealed and initiated His “preventive maintenance” plan. God told the devil that his victory would be short-lived and someone would come to “crush your head”. (Genesis 3:15) That someone turned out to be Jesus. Jesus would assume the task of “quality control engineer”. God’s standard of quality is perfection. Since Adam and Eve messed it up for everyone, mankind has been unable to attain “perfection”. You needed someone who was perfect to come and rescue you. Again, that someone is Jesus. Jesus is able to make a person perfect and the Bible term for that perfection is holiness. Holiness is not something you can attain in your own wisdom and strength. Holiness is made available exclusively by God’s Holy Spirit. When God hears your prayer of repentance, He will forgive you of your many sins. But - your human nature – your sinful nature – will still be drawn to compromise your new-found salvation. The quality of your Christian life still is in need of cleansing. When you consecrate your whole being (heart, mind, body and soul) to Christ, He will make you holy. This is a process that will take place throughout the remainder of your life. God’s Holy Spirit will saturate your whole being with Himself to make you a “new creation”. The Bible says. “Therefore, anyone who belongs to Christ is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (2 Corinthians 5:17) This new creation that you are now is God’s “quality standard”. A holy person has the same quality that Jesus has. Jesus did this by entering the human race and living a perfect sinless life. He did this in spite of facing all the same temptations that you have faced, and more. The difference is that Jesus lived His entire life without ever sinning. He was tempted in a far greater measure than you can even imagine, yet still did not sin. The Bible says, “So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered Heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet He did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” (Hebrews 4:14-16) Can you count on Jesus to pass the “stress test”? Can we count on Jesus’ “quality control”? Can you be sure that Jesus will not change the standard? Yes you can. Here is one of the great promises of the Bible: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)
