Three more golfers have attained perfection - at least on one hole! Arnold Gauchier Sr., top photo, Maeng-Je Yoon, middle, and Warren Billard, above, all aced the second hole during August. This makes the number of hole-in-ones at the High Prairie Golf Course this year total six.

Amazing! Three more hole-in-ones and all on the second hole! This brings the total to six so far this season!

Congratulations to Arnold Gauchier Sr., who recorded his Aug. 19. Arnold was golfing with two of his sons, Jesse Gauchier and Ryan Gauchier, and with Lance Gauchier. Their cheers could be heard almost to town!

Maeng-Je Yoon was golfing with Mike Mungall Aug. 26 when she got hers. Maeng-Je is our first female to record a hole-in-one since 2005.

Only one day later, Aug. 27, second time out this season, Warren Billard, scored his ace. He was golfing with his two sons, Zac and Jake, at the time.

Does this mean we will see you out here a little more often now?

The High Prairie Men’s and Ladies Open held Aug. 29-30 had 84 competitors. The course was in pristine condition thanks to Mike Ochran and his crew. The weather was awesome and some great scores were recorded.

Vince Cunningham won the Men’s Championship by one stroke over Lee Hunt after being bumped up from First Flight to the Championship Flight. Cunningham shot an 80 on the first day and 70 on the second day for a total of 150.

The Ladies Championship went to Andrea Stevens with 166, a five-stroke win over runner up, Lorraine Wilton.

Congratulations to all flight winners:

Men’s First: Arnold Gauchier Sr.

Men’s Second: Jesse Gauchier.

Men’s Third: Brian Bliss.

Men’s Fourth: Chris Halcrow.

Men’s Fifth: Daniel Anderson.

Men’s Sixth: Henry Peterson.

Men’s Seventh: Adam White.

Ladies First: Debbie Willier.

Ladies Second: Therese Giroux.

Special thanks to the tournament committee: Dave Temple and Rick Guttinger, and Bruce Cunningham for organizing the horse race and to all the participants and sponsors who made this year’s tournament such a success.

We are very proud of two of our junior members, Dylan Barrons and Quintin Guttinger, who qualified and played in the McLennan Ross Sun Junior Golf Tour again this year.

Barrons shot a 75 placing him in the top five and Guttinger shot a very respectable 84. The tournament took place at Wolf Creek Golf Resort Aug. 31.

Only a golfer would understand this!

A husband and wife are on the ninth green when suddenly she collapses from a heart attack.

“Help me, dear,” she groans to her husband. The husband calls 911 on his cell phone, talks for a few minutes, picks up his putter and lines up his putt. His wife raises her head off the green and stares at him.

“I’m dying here and you’re putting?” she says.

“Don’t worry dear,” says the husband calmly. “They found a doctor on the second hole and he’s coming to help you.”

“Well, how long will it take for him to get here?” she asks feebly.

“No time at all,” says her husband. “Everybody’s already agreed to let him play through.”
