PRJH honours top academic students

Prairie River Junior High School recognized its top academic achievers from 2008-09 at its awards ceremony Sept. 16.
Principal Victor Fines was the emcee and introduced the teachers.
“They’re awesome and they keep me laughing,” says Fines.
The students received certificates, plaques and/or pins, depending on their award.
Honours students in Grade 7-9 were Zachary Bliss, Kendall Carlson, Jason Drefs, Kelissa Getz, Brendan Murphy, Jillian Payne and Mikayla Young.
The top academic student in each Grade 9 core subject was: Kelissa Getz for Social Studies; Brendan Murphy for Language Arts, Science and Social Studies; Jillian Payne for Science; and Tyler Zabolotniuk for Math.
The High Prairie School District Award for the top academic students was presented to Adria Cisaroski for Grade 7, Christina Kucheruk for Grade 8 and Brendan Murphy for Grade 9. The students share a plaque for it.
Daniel Badger received the Kenny Bissell Memorial Award, presented to a special education student entering Grade 10.
At the end of the ceremony, vice-principal Jocelyn Heyde encouraged the students to do their best and wished them good luck in the new school year.
