Top dog!
Police Cadets attending exercises hosted by the High Prairie chapter were treated to a special demonstration
Oct. 24 at Prairie River Junior High School. A police dog named Nyte and his handler, Cpl. Shawna Lewis,
standing, held a demonstration. High Prairie Const. Lee Watt played the role of the “bad guy” and was quickly
taken down by the over-exuberant and highly-trained Nyte. Cadets from Duncan’s First Nation and Driftpile
First Nation joined High Prairie’s cadets in drill exercises and demonstrations.

A boy, who was a passenger in a vehicle which led High Prairie RCMP on a chase which neared speeds of
180 km per hour last summer, paid for his part of the crime in High Prairie youth court Oct. 19.

I was beginning to worry about my H1N1 flu shot. Although the scares ramped up in spring, the lazy days
of summer, barbecues, cool beverages, fishing and mainly catching up on doing as little as possible shoved
the thoughts of coughing and wheezing to the background.

We see them every day on our streets, not only in large cities but also in small towns. They wander around
all day and then, with no place to sleep, will find a shelter of some sort for the night. Sometimes that leads to
violence and even death.
