The High Prairie Friendship Centre will hold its 29th annual Elders’ Christmas banquet at the Eagle’s Nest Complex Dec. 5.
The doors open at 5:30 p.m., a traditional Christmas feast will be served at 6 p.m. and the awards presentations will be at 7 p.m. The awards are for the Elders of the Year, one man and one woman. Albert Babkirk and Helen Emard were last year’s recipients.
“These are people who don’t seek recognition,” says executive director Vicky Barsalou. “It’s not about money or things. It’s about being there to support the friendship centre.”
There will also be a business of the year presentation.
Connie Sabo and her belly dancers will perform at 8 p.m. and a live band will perform for the dance at 9 p.m.
Tickets are $5 each for those 55 and over, although members have their tickets included. Tickets can be purchased at the centre and the deadline is Dec. 1. No tickets will be sold at the door, nor can they be reserved.
For more information, please call the centre at 523-4511.
