Ducks Unlimited banquet a success

Mac Olsen

The annual Ducks Unlimited Canada banquet was another great success, with a roast beef dinner and a variety of auction merchandise as part of the fare.

“I appreciate all the support, the dinner went over very well,” says organizer Tammy Kaleta. She thanks the volunteers and sponsors for their support.

The banquet was held at the Pomeroy Inn Nov. 7 and drew dozens of people. Auctioneer Ron Marquardt talked fast and furious for the regular auction items, which included framed paintings, small sculptures and a shotgun. A silent auction was also held and had items such as a hospitality set, wine bottle holders and a mechanical duck decoy.

Several raffles were held too, including a Lab Puppy Fountain, a kitchen knife set and a picnic basket.

One of the prominent items featured in the auctioned was a framed Rod Gilbert New York Rangers jersey, with a photo of the player and a puck. Also auctioned were jerseys for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers.

The DUC banquet is held across Canada each year as a fundraiser for wetland conservation for waterfowl, other wildlife and people. For more information, please go to the DUC website at www.ducks.ca
