Police continue to make a dent in the local drug trade after the High Prairie General Investigation Section executed a search warrant for drugs Nov. 26 at Driftpile First Nation.
As a result, a Driftpile man faces several drug-related charges.
“Seized as a result of this search warrant was cannabis marijuana, pharmaceutical drugs, drug trafficking paraphernalia, firearms and an undisclosed amount of cash,” says Cpl. Blaine Oster, NCO in charge of the GIS Unit.
“The police have effectively removed 189 joints of cannabis marijuana, several pharmaceutical drugs, an undisclosed amount of cash, firearms and ammunition from the dwelling house making our streets and communities safer,” he adds.
Police from the High Prairie, Faust, Lakeshore and Lakeshore Regional Police detachments were also involved in the arrest.
Walter Bert Thunder, 44, is charged with possession of cannabis marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and possession of firearms and ammunition while prohibited from doing so. He appeared in High Prairie provincial court Nov. 30 to answer to the charges.
