Christmas came early at Pleasantview Lodge Nov. 27, as they held their annual tea and bazaar for the public.
Baked goods such as doughnuts, fruit cake, Christmas pudding and toffee bars lined several tables. There was also a separate table with assorted chocolates. There were also tables with knitted items such as slippers and wooden crafts such as bird houses and Christmas ornaments. Wreaths with Christmas lights were available for sale, too.
Planning began in the first week of October, with residents and volunteers working on the crafts, says Norma Deuchar, the activity coordinator for the lodge. Most of the baked goods were donated.
“We thank everybody so very much for their generosity,” Deuchar says.
A raffle was held for three items: June St. Cyr won a quilt made by the residents; Marie Hodam won a gingerbread house made and donated by Nancy Fisher; and Hazel Ritchie won a blanket made and donated by Esther Barnes.
All the proceeds from the event will go to programs for the lodge’s residents.
Pleasantview Lodge will hold two other events during the holiday season: a volunteer appreciation Christmas party Dec. 9 and a family and resident Christmas party Dec. 16.
