A fun-filled day at many venues in High Prairie and Enilda will highlight Family Day Feb. 15.
Family and Community Services community worker Kathie Gould says organizers have stayed the course for this year’s activities, seeing they are popular and very well attended each year.
Events will be held at the Sports Palace, High Prairie and District Aquatic Centre, Enilda Mud Bowl and the High Prairie Golden Age Centre.
The day at the Sports Palace begins at 10 a.m. with a pancake and sausage breakfast, sponsored by Freson IGA and served by RCMP Victims Services. Skating begins at 10 a.m. and ice games will be held from noon to 1 p.m., organized by Pastor Eric Kregel of High Prairie Bethel Baptist Church. Free hot chocolate will be supplied by A&W. The High Prairie Children’s Resource Council will be on location to do crafts and other activities with children.
Skaters are reminded to wear a safety helmet.
As always, Sports Palace events are free to attend but everyone is asked to bring a donation to the High Prairie and District Food Bank.
A toonie swim will be held at the Aquatic Centre from 1:30-4:30 p.m. but swimming is not the only activity being held. The High Prairie Municipal Library will hold story time and other activities in the party room. Craft making will be available.
Enilda Mud Bowl has made slight changes to its schedule for Family Day this year. Bowling begins at 9 a.m. and runs all day to 5 p.m. because of high demand. The cost is $2 per game to a maximum of two games if people are waiting; however, if not people can continue to bowl.
A senior cribbage tournament will be held at the Golden Age Club beginning at noon. Depending on entries, it is expected to continue to about 4-4:30 p.m.
Big Lakes FCS proudly organizes the celebrations. For further inquiries, contact them at 780-636-0062.
There are lots of prizes to be given away, including swim passes donated by Big Lakes FCS.
