Figure skaters in High Prairie continue to pass test and win medals at various competitions.

On Jan. 9 the High Prairie Skating Club sent seven skaters to a test day in Slave Lake. Out of the seven the club had five girls pass their dances and one girl pass her skills.

The club also attended the Peace Country Regional Fun Skate in Grande Cache Jan. 15-17. The 11 skaters, ages 7-15 years, skated at different levels according to their skill ranging from the Introductory Element level to the Junior Bronze level. This year, most of the girls who compete at different competitions have jumped up two skating levels making their programs a challenging to each skater.

Club president Tamara Strebchuk says the girls have worked very hard this year and are deserving of their success.

Following are the results from Grande Cache in alphabetical order:

* Zoey Anderson: eighth in Introductory Element, Flight Three.

* Amber Cottingham: first in Pre-Preliminary Elements, Flight Two; second in Pre-Preliminary Free Skate, Flight Two.

* Leslie Dueck: third in Pre-Introductory Interpretive; first in Preliminary Free Skate.

* Alie Dumont: sixth in Introductory Element, Flight Four.

* Kerry Gardner: fourth in Pre-Preliminary Elements, Flight One; third in Pre-Preliminary Free Skate, Flight One.

* Rhiane Jamieson: fourth in Junior Bronze Free Skate.

* Kelsey Keay: sixth in Pre-Preliminary Elements, Flight One; fifth in Pre-Preliminary Free Skate, Flight One.

* Lindsay Keay: Bronze medal in Introductory Element, Flight One.

* Kate Ochran: second in Junior Bronze Free Skate.

* Marie Ochran: third in Pre-Preliminary Elements, Flight One; fourth in Pre-Preliminary Free Skate, Flight One.

* Kennedi Strebchuk: fourth in Pre-Preliminary Elements, Flight Two; third in Pre-Preliminary Free Skate, Flight Two; first in Preliminary Dance.
