Masked Black and White Gala continues CT Scan fundraising

Submitted by Nona Elliott & Linda Williscroft
for South Peace News

The 2010 Masked Black & White Gala will be held April 24 in the Gordon Buchannan Recreation Centre.

The executive members of the High Prairie and District Community Foundation - chairperson Nona Elliott, CFO Linda Williscroft and secretary Shirley Matula – and directors Harry Jong, George Keay, Ken Matthews and Wilfred Willier are actively promoting the fundraising event for the CT Scan initiative.

Tickets are available for $55 per person, which includes admission for the supper and dance to follow and groups may reserve tables of eight or 10. The patron for this year is the Town of High Prairie and the gala is recognizing the settlement of the Town for its 100 year celebrations.

Williscroft says all donations are applied to the CT Scan initiative and all administration costs for the foundation are covered by grants.

Elliott shared the foundation’s vision statement which is:

* To ensure that we have a well equipped health complex.

* To organize fundraisers and solicit donations from the public.

* To provide a lifetime of assistance to promoting healthy communities and health services.

Elliott says partnerships are essential and the foundation has great partners in the Town of High Prairie and the M.D. of Big Lakes.

As this year’s patron being recognized is the Town of High Prairie, the foundation’s executive and directors appeared at the Feb. 10 council meeting. They requested contact information for former mayors and councillors to be invited. The gala organization’s intent is to honour and recognize them for their past contributions to the Town of High Prairie.

The 2010 E.W. Pratt graduates will volunteer to help with decorating, meet guest needs and other tasks. The local Repertoire Dance Association is providing some of the entertainment. Also, the foundation is still seeking auction donation items for the event, as well as sponsors for such items as the wine glasses.

For more information about tickets, cash donations or auction items, please call Williscroft at 780-523-8033, Nona Elliott at 780-751-2141 or Shirley Matula at the Town of High Prairie office at 780-523-3388.
