Brody’s Brigade is back in business!
Brody McGee will once again be attending the Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes sponsored by Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada in Edmonton June 13.
McGee was diagnosed at four years old and has been a Type 1 diabetic for four years.
“He needs to take insulin injections three times a day and recently started giving the needles himself,” says his mother, Daisy. “He needs to count carbohydrates and follows a strict scheduled and measured meal plan.”
McGee does not get to eat whenever or whatever he wants and often misses treats at birthday parties. However, he accepts he can't eat the same way other children do.
“He has been very brave following a diet and having to live with daily injections,” says Daisy.
Brody is asking the public for donations for his walk to help find him and others a cure for diabetes.
“His wish is to be the team with the most money pledged this year,” says Daisy. “He is asking for you to help make this wish a reality.”
Brody's Brigade and his team will be walking with him at the Edmonton Garrison June 13. Any pledges can be made by contacting Daisy McGee at 780-536-5190 or online at jdrf.ca under Team Brody's Brigade.
