A sea of purple for Purple Up Day
Mac Olsen

The weather was fine June 2 and three ladies made their way around the business area of High Prairie looking for signs of purple.
Alicemary Olansky, Olga Johnston and Mabel Goulet of the Royal Purple handed out key chains to people who wore purple for Purple Up Day.
At 12:30 p.m., they stood in front of the Elks Hall to give away two passes for the Elks Pro Rodeo in August, to the first person they saw wearing purple. About 15 minutes later, Violet Campiou arrived and was surprised to learn she won.
All the schools in High Prairie participated for Purple Up Day and the class in each which wore the most purple won a pizza lunch June 4. At High Prairie Elementary, Bridget Bent’s Grade 3B class won and at St. Andrew’s it was Joanne Baird’s Grade 1A class. At Prairie River Junior High, Grade 8B won and at E.W. Pratt, it was Melanie Humber’s students.
The purpose of Purple Up Day is to highlight all the Royal Purple and the Elks do for the community, says Johnston. It is the third year the Royal Purple has held the event.
