Local tourism operators and promoters are invited by the Mighty Peace Tourism Association for a full-day learning session Feb. 1 in Peace River to hear about the potential for tourism in the region.
Travel Alberta’s Don Wilson will be the keynote speaker at the event at the Sawridge Inn and Convention Centre from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
All participants must pre-register by Jan. 23.
“As of April 1, Travel Alberta will make available $800,000 to tourism partners in northern Alberta,” says tourism association executive director Nicole Halvorson.
“If your business, event or non-profit organization has a small marketing budget, you can easily double or even triple your marketing budget by leveraging your dollars with funding from Travel Alberta.
“It’s all about building partnerships and Don Wilson will explain why partnering works and how to choose partners that will complement your tourism experience,” she adds.
During the day, the sessions will feature information about strategies to market and package and how to market with social media.
This April, Mighty Peace Tourism Association will launch a $20,000 marketing campaign aimed at residents of the Peace Country, motorcycle and recreation-vehicle markets and historical and outdoor enthusiasts.
Using a variety of electronic and print advertising, posters, trade shows, e-newsletters and social media, MPTA will promote local campgrounds, rodeos, festivals, historical attractions and outdoor experiences.
“All our members will be invited to participate in this campaign, while all our professional members will be included in the facebook portion of the campaign as part of the regular membership fee,” says Halvorson.
Businesses also have access to become part of the Alberta Tourism Information System that promotes your business and services to up to 375,000 per month.
